The human population are letting between 8-12 million metric tons of plastic into the oceans each year. Each piece of this plastic takes 400 years to completely degrade. At this rate, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. Pilot are motivated to not let this be the case. It is facts like these that has led to the partnership with TerraCycle, the world’s leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable post-consumer waste.
This collaboration has led to an addition to the BEGREEN range, which is the first range of sustainable writing instruments launched by Pilot. The new addition, the B2P EcoBall range, is a new initiative to produce eco-designed pens and reduce the impact of the products on the planet. It is not the end of a long journey to sustainability, but rather just the beginning of a larger program against pollution.
The Pilot Green B2P Ecoball Ballpoint Medium Pens are one of the new products within the B2P EcoBall range. A retractable pen that features a 1.0mm tip which results in a 0.27mm medium line. With smooth flowing ink and comfort whilst writing, the pen offers a refill function. If you refill this pen at least 3 times, you can save up to 95% of CO2.
To gain the upper hand in the fight against sea pollution, the waste first needs to be removed from the waters. Using the initiative that the pens offer; plastic can be removed from the oceans and repurposed. Each of these pens are formed from 86% of recycled plastics, with 2.5% of this being plastic from the ocean.
